Gifting Ebooks to Anyone You Buy a Paperback for (Feb ’26)

As I wrote at the No. 1 Readers’ Club, February is often maligned for its bizarrely commercial focus on couples. Both my novels (Rotting Trees, the first book in the Bezzina’s Emporium trilogy, and The Princess and the Dragon and Other Stories About Unlikely Heroes) explore friendship, so if you send a physical copy of one of my books to a friend or loved one this month, and I’ll send them the ebook.

How it works

  • Buy a physical copy of the book from any retailer or a signed copy from my Folksy. Send proof of purchase like an order confirmation screenshot or a picture of the book to me at francescaswords(at)outlook(dot)com. Orders during February count. I’m not gatekeeping the terms ‘friend or loved one.’ It could be a spouse, a mentor, a child, a colleague, a grandparent… if you send them the book in physical form, I’ll send the ebook!
  • Include in the email your friend’s name and email address if they’re happy for you to share it with me (it will not be saved or used for anything except passing on the freebie). Or if you want to share the ebook with them after you’ve surprised them with the physical copy, I can send the files to you.
  • Open worldwide although I can only ship to Great Britain from my Folksy. Copies bought from Books-on-Sea in Southend or Carpe Noctem in Frome count. The files will be epub or pdf, whichever is easier for me to send (maybe both let’s see), and they should be compatible with any and all e-readers, although I am not responsible if they are not. You are not allowed to distribute the ebook files to anyone other than your loved one, for money or otherwise.

And that’s it. Happy gifting and shout if you have questions!

Look after yourselves,
Francesca
